.....as January creeps away for another year.....Hooray....it feels like it has been a long month. Christmas seems so far away now.
But at last the nights seem to be drawing out a little, it was light until after 5 tonight, and we have had some good sunny days this week, so we have been for doggy walks, and even sitting outside for breakfast for 3 mornings. Admittedly, wearing my coat and sat on a cushion cos the seats too cold otherwise, but I've sat out on my bench, wearing my sunglasses and enjoying my coffee for 3 days.
I even managed to sweep the yard and take a good look at just what is sprouting in the flower beds. Joe followed me round, sniffing and hoping I would open up shed door for him to go in a look for mice. That felt like a step too far, let the poor old mice enjoy the shelter of the shed for a bit longer yet! As it is the garden has been visited by a fox, and the old dog has plenty to do sniffing round and finding just exactly where the creature has walked in HIS garden. But boy does that dog pong when he comes back into the house.

| Frothy coffee-just right for drinking in the morning sun |
Over the weekend we took a drive to Cannock, for a carvery lunch-not quite as good as they have been- it's the quality of the roast potatoes that decides it, and these were not up to scratch.
Of course we had to have a nose in Newlife, seeing as we were in the area, but the queues.....I stood in the queue, while dad picked out some shirts for himself. It was a " buy one get one free", so Darsh decided he needed new shirts. He definately doesn't, but if he has new ones I can sneak at least half a dozen old ones into the jumble. So I stood there, for half an hour would you believe, he rolls up, grinning-but then 4 good shirts for £6- he is entitled to grin {but maybe just not that widely} "Where's your card?" I asked him, cos you can't buy anything in Newlife if you haven't got a membership card. And of course he hadn't got it....he'd given it to somebody...Selina, you got the blame this time....Back went the shirts and out we went. Honestly I could have killed him...especially since I had said to him after we left the house "Have you got your card?" "Oh yes" he said "I always keep it in my wallet, after I forgot it last time" I'm still going to throw out at least 6 old shirts, but I can't promise that they won't be his best ones....
