Heatwave?

Well Sunday was lovely, we wandered round Bescot Market, and lazed in the garden.  Monday started off well and lasted till mid morning and althouth it was hot, it was cloudy, so we went to Tesco and bought a picnic and went to Brownhills common.  Dog flatly refused to come, so we simply left him at home.  Got the food out and and buttered the bread-and it started to rain.  Came home, found dog giggling behind the curtains wearing his "told you so" face.  Surely heatwaves are supposed to last longer than 1 1/2 days aren't they?

Look at this happy face surrounded by a table full of food....

Darsh has spent the rest of the week spraying the underneath of the dormobile with sealant, and booking our trip to Dublin for next week.  We are going over to John's brother's wedding.  The flights are booked, the hotel booked, and even a CAR arranged and hopefully paid for.  We were going on Thursday evening, and coming back Tuesday night.  But somebody pressed the wrong button, so we are going over early Thursday morning instead!  Bailey is staying at home and looking after Joey and taking us to and from the airport. I am going shopping this weekend for a new dress.

Charlotte has gone up to Newcastle house hunting, she has rung to say she has found a suitable little flat and is excited to put in an offer tomorrow.  Selina has also called to say the house opposite her, the one I said I would fancy if ever comes onto the market, has come onto the market and she is going to view it next week.

Darsh is sat in front of the telly, mentally counting his pennies and looking worried.

Fathers day....

...so Selina, Pete and Charlotte came over for the weekend.  It was also Irene and June's birthday party, so we all went to that on Saturday evening.  It was good to catch up with everyone there.  Darsh has had a friend/patient staying with us to recover from surgery, and Bailey drifts in and out from time to time as the old campervan is repaired for the summer, so it was a busy week all round.  The camper van has passed it's MOT now but it seems a bit pointless to tax it so late in the month, so I think they are waiting for the 1st of July, which seems to be approaching way too fast.
Charlotte has her last day at work tomorrow, she only has a couple more weeks in her flat and then she is off to Thailand for the rest of the summer, Selina and Pete are going with her for the first couple of weeks, and then Matt is joining her for the rest of the time.

Rachel, June and Irene at the party on Saturday night.
We don't have any holiday plans made as yet, Darsh has totally changed his mind about him going to Thailand with the kids. The way it is raining tonight, I can't think of anything worse than been stuck out in the middle of a camp site-DRIPPING.

Been struggling to get the garage sorted...

...You know I've come to the conclusion that it just isn't worth the hassle.  It is such hard work getting Darsh to do anything, his concentration can barely last an hour, his phone is ringing constantly, he is so easily distracted and wanting to lie down, have a drink, go on the computer, make another call.  It is hard to remember that he is 57, not 5.  At the minute he is in bed, having a nap, waiting to be woken up with a cup of tea.  Ahh how sweet... and how frustrating.  We managed 2 hours today, but I think thats it for this weekend cos he's too busy tonight, too busy all day tomorrow.  Nothing...absolutely nothing...can get in the way of his social life.  Ahh well...

Found some paper work that showed Joe has been with us for 7 years, and not 5 as I thought, baring in mind he was about 4 when we got him he could be pushing 11 now.  Noticed he is getting slower, and very affectionate lately, maybe he is getting to be an old dog...but then there was a baby squirrel in the garden.  Joe fell out the back door, his eyes focused on the squirrel, not the plant pot in his way.  He hurtled down the garden and the squirrel, in his panic fell, and somersaulted over Joe's back before running up the tree.  He may be an old boy, but that was a very narrow escape for the squirrel.  Eventually, when I managed to get his attention, he swaggered up the garden, grinning broadly.  It was pouring with rain and he was soaking, maybe why the squirrel slipped in the first place.

It has finished raining, just another sudden April shower, that soaks everything and then is gone.  Was hoping to cut the grass, but doesn't look like it now.  Spent yesterday finishing off my summer bedding and pots and planting up my tomatoes, the garden looks lovely, apart from all the garage rubbish piled up on the garden table.  Was hoping to have a BBQ, but no point on my own, it is still so cold at night, so evening BBQs are right out of the window.  Selina and Pete have gone to the Isle of Wight festival this weekend.  The weather forecast isn't very good for them, but since when have they been very accurate anyway?

Took this picture last weekend, one of Selina's worse enemies...

...she moans that they eat everything as fast as she can plant it, but I tell her that once her garden gets a bit more established she wont be able to see what they have done, at the minute her plants are only small, but in time they will all grow, she is just too impatient with her 1st garden.

Saw these growing in Weston last weekend, they weren't bothered by a few snails.

That was a very quick week....

....we didn't do anything much, just lazed around at home went for walks and generally enjoyed the good weather.

Went over to Selina's on Saturday and so it promptly started to rain....Dad had arranged to go to Weston on Sunday, to meet up with Bailey.....

We went anyway, despite the wet, and it did sort of brighten up around about lunch-time.... just in time to enjoy fish and chips outside at a beach side cafe...

They were good, all the better for been eaten outside.
We enjoyed a couple of hours wandering round the little town, and Selina was delighted to find this...

....in a second hand shop in the backstreet, we had admired them in Selfridges a while back, and this one was 1/4 of the price...a real bargain, and we all know Selina loves a bargain!

Headed back to Bristol, only 40 mins drive, out of the sunshine and back into pouring rain again.
Spent a leisurely evening at home, doing bits and pieces...and sleeping off a busy day and a very long walk.
